The beacons (aka light pilars) in ARK drops a random loot crate from above, which can be looted using E key.
The color of the beacon represents the needed level requirement to open the lootbox.
Lootbox itself contains random resources from building bits to blueprints to weapons etc.
Level 3 – White or multi colored beacon
Level 15 – Green beacon
Level 25 – Blue beacon
Level 35 – Purple beacon
Level 45 – Yellow beacon
Level 60 – Red beacon
